Omofobia è diventata una parola di uso comune nella comunicazione quotidiana dei media in Italia. A segnalare che qualcosa sta accadendo nella società civile del nostro paese, e che i fenomeni di violenza avvenuti negli ultimi tempi rappresentano dei segnali assolutamente allarmanti. Nicola Ruben Montini concentra da qualche anno il suo lavoro di performer intorno a queste problematiche, sondando le linee di tensione fra tolleranza e intolleranza, fra accettazione e rifiuto, utilizzando come ‘materiale’ da reinterpretare alcune tra le più note e provocatorie performance contemporanee a partire dalle sperimentazioni di Yoko Ono, Valie Export, Marina Ambramovic.
Per la serata alla Galleria Contemporaneo Montini propone, agendo sul proprio corpo, una rilettura di una perfomance del 2005 di Regina Josè Gallindo, durante la quale l’artista guatemalteca si è incisa sulla carne la parola Perra (cagna) per ricordare la violenza che devono subire le donne del suo paese.
La partecipazione alla serata è consigliata al solo pubblico adulto.
Nicola Ruben Montini nasce nel 1986. Si è laureato all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia nel 2008. Attualmente vive e lavora a Londra, dove frequenta il corso MA Fine Art al Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design di Londra.

Homophobia has become a word which is frequently used in the Italian news media. This is a sign that something is happening in the civil society of this country, and that the phenomena of violence which have been happening recently are decidedly alarming signals. For several years now Nicola Ruben Montini has focussed his performance work on this problem, examining the tension lines between tolerance and intolerance, between acceptance and rejection. His work is the re-interpretation of some of the most famous and provocative contemporary performances such as the experimentations of Yoko Ono, Valie Export and Marina Ambramovic.
For his event at the Galleria Contemporaneo Montini will present, by acting on his body, a re-reading of a performance from 2005 by Regina Josè Gallindo, where the Guatemalan artist carved the word Perra (bitch) on her skin in memory of the violence that women in her country have to suffer.

Nicola Ruben Montini was born in 1986. He graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 2008. He currently lives and works in London, where he is studying on the MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.
