Avatar Project is the project that the duo marotta&russo
has undertaken, since a few years, within the digital images production
field. Their works represent a synthesis between the formal languages
of the web, graphics and aspects more properly related to visual culture,
and reveal an explicitly architectural aim.
Their suggestion is that of a new cityscape, an idea of meta-city made
possible by the converging of new technologies design elements with
artistic experiences originally connected to geometric abstraction.
The exhibition at the Galleria Contemporaneo is an innovative chance
to approach these very recent contemporary productions: videos, images
and large digital wall paintings. Outline, marotta&russo
brand-new project, is an extraordinary and, at the same time, thorough
example of that.
Stefano Marotta (La Chaux de Fonds, 1971) and Roberto Russo (Udine, 1969) live and work in Udine, Italy. Their artistic research focuses on both the expressive potentialities and psychological, linguistic and logic categories induced by the contemporary Digital Lifestyle.
A catalogue with both English and Italian texts by Riccardo Caldura, Stefano Coletto, Sarah Cosulich Canarutto, Stefano Marotta e Roberto Russo is available. Images of all the exhibited works and of the special projects are included in the publication.
