The project VENEZIA-MARGHERA Fotografia e trasformazioni nella città contemporanea aims to repropose the exhibition curated by Paolo Costantini just before his untimely death in 1997.
VENEZIA-MARGHERA Fotografia e trasformazioni nella città contemporanea took place just during that year at the Pilkington-SIV warehouse with the support of the XLVII Venice Biennial and presented a series of photographs that were supposed to constitute the basis of a photographic archive on the transformation of the industrial area of Porto Marghera and, more generally, of the contemporary city.
The exhibition was meant thus as wide-ranging project combining perfectly with the complex research of the curator from Venice who has been working for years at the Centre Canadien d’Architecture (CCA) in Montreal.
The exhibition is just a section of a broader project, OMAGGIO A PAOLO COSTANTINI, which aims not just to recall and celebrate Paolo Costantini, but rather to give his research prominence as a study with precise purposes in the field of contemporary photography. Besides VENEZIA-MARGHERA Fotografia e trasformazioni nella città contemporanea, on Thursday May 22nd (from 11.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00) will take place a one day seminar, Le immagini ovunque abitano, dedicated to the curator. The seminar is conceived unique occasion to take into consideration and examine his research.
A selection of photographs by Marina Ballo Charmet, Olivo Barbieri, Gabriele Basilico, Gianantonio Battistella, Luca Campigotto, Vincenzo Castella, Alessandra Chemollo, Giovanni Chiaramonte, Paola De Pietri, William Guerrieri, Guido Guidi, Mimmo Jodice, Fulvio Orsenigo, Marco Zanta will be on show during the exhibition.
Lewis Baltz, Gabriele Basilico, Massimo Cacciari, Riccardo Caldura, Marco De Michelis, Roberto Ellero, Antonello Frongia, Silvio Fuso, Guido Guidi, Silvia Paoli, Vittorio Savi, Tiziana Serena, Nico Stringa, Italo Zannier will kindly take part into the one day seminar.
